The third Green Economy Congress was organized on June 6 - 8, 2019. in Belgrade. This year we shared our knowledge and green ideas under a slogan "Municipalism: Economic Patterns for Green Europe", and addressed green topics and the ways to make green agenda and sustainable development an integral part of our thinking, doing, and actions – with a goal of inspiring leadership for change and innovative solutions among global citizens in addressing the key economic, social, and environmental challenges.
National or EU policies alone cannot guarantee a green transition – cities, regions and communities can also be catalysts for environmental policy solutions. National, regional and local policy makers have tracked urban, regional and rural development through initiatives that seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase resource efficiency. This year’s Green Economy Congress showed once again that local, bottom up approach is a sustainable one, when we speak about green economy and green policies in general.
On the first day, with more than 50 participants in Serbian Chamber of Commerce, we discussed regional cooperation, importance of local communities, green finances, blockchain and crowdfunding, and our participants had presentations on climate change, solar energy and ecosystem services in urban areas.
At Cultural Center Grad, on the second day of the Green Economy Congress, through discussion and collaborative work at our workshops, we created circular neighbourhoods, searched for sustainable fashion alternatives and mapped the path to zero and low waste life. In cooperation with EcoTech Serbia, we organized a panel named Business Going Green and gave practical tips on different funding options for green startups.
Our participants also had the opportunity to see Nikola Tesla museum, Botanical garden, Kalemegdan fortress and socialize during this three inspiring days.
First and a third day of the Green Economy Congress was organized by Networked and Group for analysis and policy - making with support of numerous partners. Second day of the Green Economy Congress was organized by Green European Foundation with the support of Networked Serbia and with the financial support of the European Parliament to the Green European Foundation.
